The phased interior renovation at Capital District Psychiatric Center updates all living areas within an occupied facility.
The goal of the renovation was to update inpatient residential areas to create a comforting, safe, and healing environment for patients. To achieve this, the design focused on improving sight lines for staff to be able to observe patients throughout a living unit, increasing natural daylight, improving interior lighting, and reducing noise levels through the use of soft materials throughout the space.
