Working collaboratively with Cornell University, A|r developed a unique design solution for the iconic Willard Straight Hall, campus student union building, that converted the existing freight elevator into an efficient service and passenger elevator.
This detailed modification to the vertical transportation system provided an efficient and accessible adaptation to the historic building, critical for the high-traffic academic and recreational program spaces housed within the facility. The design solution included additional passenger entrances and renovated lobby, corridor, and office spaces to accommodate the new design requirements.
