A|r provided architectural and elevator design services to address accessibility concerns identified by the New York State Education Department at Erie Community College’s City Campus.
Design efforts involved a review of existing conditions and the development of recommendations that address ADA compliance throughout the campus. These recommendations include door hardware improvements, toilet room renovations, and exterior ramp reconstruction. Elevator design services centered on the modernization of three passenger elevators within the historic Old Post Office Building. These efforts included upgrades to the Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing systems as they related to the elevator systems.
Due to the age of the facility, the project required SHPO review and careful hazardous materials abatement design in order to safely complete the renovations.
