Design Brief

Project Location: Buffalo, NY

Human capital is a company’s greatest asset, and one which demands a healthy, lively, and efficient environment to thrive. A|r is designing Sonwil’s new corporate headquarters to bring together for the first time under one roof, multiple company branches including Logistics, Transportation, and Technology. This project focuses on 22,000 sf of diverse work environments, a modernized executive suite and a stunning entry lobby showcasing stacked shipping containers, showcasing the heart of Sonwil.

The A|r team documented the existing space layout while assessing the potential for spatial reuse and reviewing for code compliance. Throughout the evaluation process, a series of programming sessions with the company and their stakeholders addressed current space needs and discussed potential solutions. Using a collaborative approach not only enhances the effectiveness and quality of the workplace but ensures a customized strategy that suits the character of the company. Three options were generated for review and selection of a final layout. An extensive FFE package was produced, with each department selecting workspaces to best suit their specific workflow.
