The A|r Higher Education Design Studio has provided design and programming services for scores of successful College and University campus projects. Our specialization includes campus-wide master planning, complex renovation of existing facilities, repurposing historic structures and the design of new buildings. We work with university representatives to craft design solutions that include the thoughtful integration of progressive new technologies, deep energy retrofit of existing building systems, and progressive program spaces that adapt to shifting needs. Together, we create spaces that are inherently flexible to anticipate change and support academic goals well into the future.
Universities are leaders in promoting sustainable design strategies, maximizing use of existing facilities, and establishing bold material and energy conservation commitments. We work to achieve sustainability targets, surpassing sustainable and efficient designs around USGBC LEED designation and applying innovative Deep Energy Retrofit and Net Zero Carbon strategies to renew campus facilities.
By drawing inspiration from students, faculty, and staff, and by introducing their feedback into our designs whenever possible, we develop spaces that shape the student experience to enhance collaboration, foster learning, with the ultimate goal of aiding student success.
